Pennants Braids & Rods

Questions about making and labelling your items, how many should you make and much more.

What wording can I put on my pennant label?

Please Do label your pennants; we have had approval by LOCOG for the following wording.

"This pennant was made by (name) of (location) (date made) as part of the Quilts 4 London project, part of the London 2012 Cultural Olympiad".

Do I need to attach a label to my Braids or Rods?

Please attach a small swing ticket-type label with your name and general location on. Please include your full contact details (email if possible) with the braids for our records, we will not pass this on.

Can I make more than one?

Yes please! We need approximately 14,000 pennants in all so the more the merrier.

Can our School make one to represent the School?

Yes you can and include your school emblem etc or whatever you feel represents your school the best.

What size should the hanging sleeve be? 2" or 4"?

Initially we requested a 2" sleeve, but have reviewed the instructions to make it easier to thread them up to display them - hence the larger sleeve. Anything from 3" to 4 1/2" would be favourable - but if you have made a 2" sleeve, that would be ok.

What should I do with my pennant, braid or rod once I've made it?

Once your item is complete then please photograph it and upload the photo to our Gallery. You need to register to do this but we dont share that information with anyone.

You can then exhibit or display your pennants with others as many organisations are doing across the country.
Once you are ready (and before the closing date 31st December 2011) please send it in to us so we can prepare it for giving to an athlete.

Make sure that you label your pennant and include a cover letter with your name, address etc so we can register your contribution. This is never shared with anyone.

Where should I send my item so that it can be donated to an athlete?

To send it in, please use one of the following:

  • Take it to one of the shops or collection points listed here
  • Post it to your local or nearest coordinator
  • Post it directly to us at the Project Address

The Project Address is:

Quilts4London
39 Hunting Gate
Hemel Hempstead
Herts HP2 6NX
